Eric Orschel is a
physical and health education teacher who has worked extensively with athletes
coaching high school mountain biking and cross country running, while teaching
outdoor education as well as fitness and strength training. His university
experience included 3 years testing national team athletes in the exercise
physiology lab at the

actively competing in mountain bike racing for 21 years. In the first 5 years
of racing he competed as a Pro/Elite Mountain Biker at

include a Bachelor’s of Physical Education with a major in Exercise Physiology,
Bachelor of Education, and a Master’s in Education all

What does Eric’s
TrailFit training program offer?
Eric will develop a
training plan and workouts that are as specific as possible to your needs as an
athlete and your goals as a racer. He
will work to help you improve both your riding fitness and technical skill as a
mountain biker. Eric is committed to personal fitness and maintaining a good
aerobic core for mountain biking. He will introduce riders to new and
challenging workouts that will enhance and improve fitness in the long term.
The following explains his commitment to the Fall Session, Winter/Spring
Session and Summer Session.
TrailFit Training Program Costs and Information
Fall Training
The Fall training program will run from Sept 15th to Nov. 15th and involve the following activities in terms of skill development and aerobic improvement.
Trail Running
Cyclo-Cross Training
Technical Trail Riding
Endurance Trail Riding
Endurance Road Riding
Program riders can choose the activities that they wish to become involved in. The main focus will be on developing a stronger aerobic component in all riders that will improve all endurance.
TrailFit will develop specific training activities for each rider with specific attention to time limitations, physical fitness, and type of training. TrailFit will develop direct heart rate training zones for each rider based on standard heart rate norms and rider information. An example is attached to this, Haley Training Program to Crank.
TrailFit (Eric
Orschel) will commit at a minimum to meeting each rider either in a group or
individually twice each month in riding/trail running workouts.
Costs: $150 per month
Winter/Spring Training
The Winter Training program will run from Nov. 15th to April 15th and involve the following activities in terms of aerobic improvement, strength training, plyometric exercises and P90X Training
Trail Running
Bike Rollers
Plyometric exercises
Weight Training
Cross Country Skiing
Snowshoeing
The main focus of this session will be on maintaining aerobic fitness, increasing mountain bike muscle strength, and cross training into other activities that will support the fall training component.
TrailFit will develop a specific strength training component for each rider with specific muscle exercises for each rider including appropriate weights, sets and repetitions
. Cross Country Skis and Snow Shoes will be made available to clients that need them for the winter training session.
TrailFit (Eric
Orschel) will commit at a minimum to meeting each rider in a group or
individually at least twice a month in workout sessions.
Costs: $125/month
plus $75 for the initial strength training session to evaluate
Correct technique and
starting weights.
Summer Race Season Training
The summer race season will run from April 15th to Sept. 15th and will involve race training and specific workouts to improve race fitness and technical trail skills.
Activities will include;
Endurance Road Rides
Technical Trail Riding
Intense Interval workouts (Road and Trail)
TrailFit will develop a specific workout schedule for each rider with specific trail and road workouts with specific emphasis on a blend of intensity of workouts, endurance rides both on and off road as well as selected technical training sessions.
TrailFit (Eric
Orschel) will commit at minimum to meeting each rider in a group or
individually at least 3 times a month in workout sessions. As well those riders
that will be riding the
Costs
$175/month for Senior Racers (over 18) and $150/month for those under 18.
Riders will be
required to give me end of week (Sunday) updates on training progress which can
be emailed, as well as detailed information of upcoming competitions and races
that you have entered. Consistent feedback is essential to improvement and
proper fitness development throughout each Training Segment.
